Dr Boon is a specialist registered General Practitioner & Director of the practice.

He is recognised as a specialist GP with the qualifications MRCGP (UK) and FRACGP (Australia).

He completed his medical degree from Imperial College London UK (ranked 2nd best university in the world in the 2014 QS World University Rankings and their Faculty of Medicine is one of Europe’s largest medical institutions) and also at Oxford University Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine in 2006.

He has trained at some of the world’s leading hospitals such as St Mary’s Hospital London, Chelsea & Westminster Hospital London and Charing Cross Hospital London where he worked with some of the world’s most internationally acclaimed specialists.

Dr Boon is very well established in the area having previously worked in Engadine and will continue to offer the most up-to-date, evidence based care at our new centre.

Skills

Dr Boon is trained in a full range of hospital speciality positions to offer services well beyond the scope of a typical GP.

  • Ear Nose and Throat ( ENT) – where he trained with one of the world’s leading ENT surgeons Dr John Oates, assisted in extensive ENT operations and worked in specialist ENT clinics. Dr Boon is an expert with the ENT microscope, performing ear microsuction routinely and is a specialist in ENT presentations.
  • Obstetrics and Gynaecology – where he was trained in St Mary’s Hospital London, one of the world’s best O & G centres. The hospital is frequently in the news after the recent Royal births at the unit of Prince George and Princess Charlotte. At the centre he managed the full gamut of women’s health presentations including antenatal/pregnancy care, abnormal bleeding, miscarriage, contraception and oncology. He has also assisted in a wide variety of surgical procedures including Caesarean sections, management of ectopic pregnancies, miscarriages, laparoscopies, and hysterectomies.
  • Paediatrics – having worked extensively in inpatient hospital paediatric (children’s health) centres managing: life threatening emergencies, injuries, neonatal care, oncology, behavioural paediatric clinics and general children’s health.
  • Geriatric Care – where he has trained intensively in hospital based acute medicine and geriatric (elderly care) units throughout the United Kingdom. He is a specialist GP in Aged Care and dementia, looking after a large number of residents in multiple major Residential Aged Care facilities in the Shire. He has strong links with Southcare Geriatrics and the Calvary Palliative Team to offer a multidisciplinary approach to elderly care.
  • Psychiatry – having worked in two major psychiatric units in London for both adults, children and elderly. This involved the treatment of emergency psychiatric conditions and also the management of community mental health dealing with depression, anxiety and emotional breakdowns.
  • Orthopaedics – having worked intensively in a major orthopaedic hospital in London. This involved the management of severe trauma/injuries, treatment of joint and back pains, assisting in orthopaedic surgical operations such as fracture repairs, arthroscopies, joint reconstruction/replacement, amputation and post operative rehabilitation.
  • Surgical – with considerable surgical experience having worked in major dermatology and general surgical centres throughout England.
  • Chronic Diseases – where he has also worked in GP clinics throughout England and Australia managing chronic disease such as diabetes, hypertension and heart disease, sexual health, men’s health, travel medicine, Workcover, CTP injuries and vaccinations.
